Gail B. Nayowith is the Principal of 1digit LLC, a project management and consulting practice that connects social purpose organizations, leaders and government to solutions that improve performance, impact and reach.
In March, 2015, Nayowith was appointed as Chair of the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Community Services Board and member of the New York City Board of Health. She is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Kenworthy-Swift Foundation. Since 2011, Nayowith has co- chaired the NYS Medicaid Redesign Team Children’s Behavioral Health Workgroup that is charged with designing New York State’s new Medicaid managed care system for children with special medical and behavioral health needs.
Nayowith served for four years as the chief executive of SCO Family of Services, where she directed a $250 million network of 85 health and human service programs in over 100 locations serving 60,000 children, youth and families in New York City and Long Island. Prior to joining SCO, she served for three years as founding Executive Director of the Laurie M. Tisch Illumination Fund where she worked with the philanthropist founder and the Mayor’s Office to build NYC Green Carts, the NYC Civic Corps and NYC Service, among other early accomplishments of the new foundation. Previously, Nayowith served for 15 years as Executive Director of Citizens’ Committee for Children of New York transforming it into New York City’s premier child and family policy advocacy organization.
Nayowith started her career in public service working in New York City government at the Department of Mental Health, Mental Retardation and Alcoholism Services, Department of Health, Human Resources Administration and Health and Hospitals Corporation.
